The residency year is designed to move residents from observers to skilled practitioners.  Residents take concepts, theories, and strategies learned in coursework and apply them in their clinical experiences. Much focus is on understanding how to create classroom cultures that honor and advocate for the individual abilities of each and every child.

Over the course of the year residents become adept at designing and implementing rigorous lessons, removing barriers by implementing choice, and demanding high expectations while providing a caring and nurturing environment.

All of this is done with the support of a district-recommended master teacher.
